Ashley's office - with plenty of spots for couples to sit for in person therapy!
Specialized Couple's Therapy means couples therapy focused on a specific mental health concern of one or multiple partners. I help couples understand the impact of OCD/OCPD, anxiety, adult ADHD and other diagnoses on their relationship, and collaborate with them to create more helpful and preferred communication & connection patterns.
As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and OCD and anxiety specialist, I blend these skills into a unique approach to couple's work. If you are realizing that your or your partner's mental health diagnosis is impacting your relationship in ways you wish it wasn't, and want support to change these dynamics, we may be a good fit to work together!
I am LGBTQ+ affirming and work with couples regardless of their sexual orientations or gender identities.
At this time I do not provide general couple's therapy. If you are seeking couple's therapy to address relationship dynamics that are not related to OCD or another mental health condition, I'm happy to provide you with referrals for other couple's therapists who would be a better fit for this.
Couples who work with me can expect to feel more connected, more understanding of each other, and more equipped to support and handle challenges in their relationship, especially those related to mental health.
With couples, I like to have everyone present for every session. Sometimes in the course of our work it may become clear that one or more partners need additional support. If this happens, I will provide referrals for their own individual therapy, so that I can remain in the position of supporting the couple/relationship as a whole.
I specialize in helping couples where one or more partners have an OCD or related diagnosis, and because of this I will provide education to partners on symptoms and how to respond in ways that are helpful to the relationship without worsening the OCD.
I typically will assign couple's homework - things to try or focus on between their sessions with me, and then we will follow up on these things in the next session. I may ask couples to practice changing communication patterns or other dynamics in the session, and then we can process that experience together.
How I look in my office - I work with couples virtually and in person!
