FAQs

How do I get started?

To get started, please visit the Contact and Inquires page to submit an inquiry form if you are interested in becoming a new client. I will respond to your inquiry by phone and/or email within 1-2 business days. We will then schedule a 10-15 min phone consultation for as soon as possible so that we can assess our fit.

If you are a parent submitting an inquiry for individual therapy for your child/teen, the child/teen does not need to be present for the consultation call.

If we decide to work together, you will receive an email from me with a link to create an account through the client portal so you can complete the necessary consent and history documents. This typically takes about 30 minutes, and needs to be completed at least 24 hours prior to your appointment so I have time to review.

What can I expect in the intake/initial session?

The intake session will be about 55-60 minutes long. During this session, I will gain your background and history, as well as try to gain an understanding of the symptoms and problems you currently want to address in therapy. Based on this information and the information you complete in your intake paperwork, I may complete screeners or assessments with you. We will start our conversation about goals for treatment, and what you would like to gain from therapy, as well as spend time getting to know each other.

Do you take insurance?

No, Evergreen Therapy is a fully self-pay, out-of-network practice.

Being a fully out-of-network provider allows me the ability to personalize each client/family's plan of care, and the flexibility to make changes as needed without insurance dictating what they may think is best. If you have questions about this, I would be happy to discuss with you.

Fees are due a the time of service via credit card that is kept securely on file.

You may use an HSA card and provide a backup credit card should the HSA card run out of funds.

Clients may call their insurance company and inquire about out-of-network mental health benefits that they may have through their specific plan. Super receipts are available on a monthly basis through the client portal and clients may submit them on their own to their insurance company if seeking reimbursement. Evergreen Therapy does not submit super receipts or any other client documentation or information directly to insurance companies.

I am not a Medicaid or Medicare provider.

What are your fees?

Family Therapy/Parenting Therapy Rates:

*Extended session times (75 min, 90 min, etc) may be needed in family therapy based on several factors, such as how many people are participating in the session. All extended times are pro-rated off this 53 minute fee.

Do I need to live in Georgia even if we only meet virtually?

Yes, due to state licensing laws, I can only practice in the state of Georgia. This means that clients must be physically located in Georgia when attending sessions.

How long does therapy usually take?

The length of time it takes us to tackle your specific goals in therapy looks different for everyone. However, I try to set reasonable timelines with my clients so they can keep an eye on their progress and inform me when things feel they aren't moving forward as expected. For example, in the first session I will usually ask clients something like "How will you know in a month from now that therapy is working? What will feel different/better/more manageable?" We will set goals based off this, and continually check in and adjust as necessary. Please ask about this in the intake session if you have more specific questions.

Do you offer a sliding scale/reduced fee services?

Reduced fee client slots are limited and offered based on financial need. If you are interested in a sliding scale/reduced fee slot, please list this in your inquiry form and I will let you know if I currently have any of those spots available.

How often will we meet for therapy sessions?

The frequency of sessions is based on each client or family's needs. We will discuss in the intake session our initial plan for frequency of sessions.

Typically, individual clients start out engaging in a 45-53 minute session 1x per week. Weekly therapy at the beginning is important for the development of the therapist-client relationship, and so that we can gain momentum working towards your goals. It is recommended that you plan to engage in weekly sessions at least for the first several weeks.

Sometimes clients may benefit from meeting more frequently than once per week, especially if they are stepping down from a higher level of care.

I always say that my goal as your therapist is to work myself out of a job! This means that if you are making progress towards your goals, I also want to step down your frequency as soon as we can. For example, some clients start off seeing me weekly then step down to once every 2 weeks once they start making progress and feeling better.

How do I pay for sessions?

Fees are due a the time of service via credit card that is kept securely on file. Credit cards will be processed within 48 hours after the service has occurred. You may use an HSA card and provide a backup credit card should the HSA card run out of funds.

Will you coordinate care with my other healthcare providers?

Yes, I will coordinate care with your other healthcare/mental healthcare providers on an as needed and as desired basis. If we think this would be helpful/necessary, I will ask the client or legal guardian to complete a Release of Information form. For family therapy, all adult parties will need to consent to this.

I typically coordinate care with a client's psychiatrist or their pediatrician/primary care doctor if they are prescribing mental health medications and involved in their mental health care. I also have experience with and commonly collaborate with nutritionists/dieticians involved in the client's care.

Do you provide custody evaluations?

No, I do not provide custody evaluations or any other forensic/legal services.

How will we meet for telehealth/virtual sessions?

Telehealth/virtual sessions are conducted through a secure and HIPPA compliant platform. I have 2 secure platforms available so that if we have connection issues we can try switching. If you have questions related to the specifics of this, please ask me in our consultation call.

Will you attend my child's 504/IEP meeting?

Yes, I will attend 504 plan and IEP meetings when the accommodations being requested align with mental health diagnoses, needs, and goals. Current clients may speak with me about this at any time, and I will provide you with the necessary documentation on my end for this process.

I cannot speak directly with the school or provide any documentation to the school until you have completed an intake and signed all documentation, including a Release of Information form for the school.
