Individual Therapy for Teens
Teens and tweens are my favorite people, and I love working with them in therapy. Really, I do! I've been told that I speak teenager, and I make a big effort to meet my teen clients exactly where they are. This means that if they come into therapy resistant or unsure of if they want to be there, I'm okay with that. I spend time with my teen clients to help them build a relationship with me so they can feel like therapy can be a safe and supportive place for them. I utilize hands-on techniques to engage teen clients in their sessions so they have other ways to express their feelings if they are struggling to open up verbally.
I enjoy working with teens and tweens (ages 12 and up) with a variety of presenting problems including depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and related disorders, ADHD, body focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs/skin picking/hair pulling) and insomnia/sleep optimization. I am experienced working with teens who's mental health struggles are making it difficult to fully engage in their lives and school, and also teens who may be functioning well overall and are just looking for a neutral outlet to explore their feelings. I am LGBTQ+ affirming for clients of all ages. I utilize a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches to fit each client's need, including DBT skills, CBT, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and more. Find out more about my training on the About Me page.
For minor clients, parent and/or family sessions are a required part of treatment on a monthly basis. This ensures that caregivers are provided with the tools they need to support their teen in therapy, and reinforce skills the teen is learning in the home. I also use these sessions to address gaps in communication that may be occuring between teens and their parents.
Individual Therapy Session Rates for Minors:
Intake/Initial Session - $250
Individual 45 min (minors) - $185 (this is my standard session for minors)
Individual Therapy for Adults & Young Adults
I enjoy working with adults with a variety of presenting problems including depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and related disorders, ADHD, body focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs/skin picking/hair pulling) and insomnia/sleep optimization.
Young adults (ages 18-25) may be experiencing unique stress or struggles related to living on their own, college, life transitions, finding independence, dating/navigating relationships, exploring their identity, and more. I work with young adults & college students who need a safe and supportive place to navigate these changes and challenges, especially when they overlap with other mental health diagnoses.
I also love working with moms for individual therapy. As a mom myself, I know that there are unique challenges that come along with motherhood, and I provide a safe and judgement-free place for moms to process their own feelings and connect with their own identities. I also work with moms who may be struggling with a mental health diagnosis (such as anxiety or OCD) and need specific support with how this overlaps with their role as a parent.
Individual Therapy Session Rates for Adults:
Intake/Initial Session - $250
Individual 53 min Session (adults) - $185
Parenting Support Therapy
I specialize in and enjoy working with parents with children of all ages, and help parents navigating issues such as:
parenting a child/teen with an OCD/anxiety/other mental health diagnosis
unhelpful/stressful family dynamics
addressing communication barriers between parents and teens
structure/discipline strategies for parents of children and teens
stress related to life/family transitions
parent concerns for parents of young adults
If needed or desired, I help parents navigate the 504/IEP process with their child's school
For parents of teens: Teens can be tough to communicate with sometimes, and parents are often left feeling lost, confused, frustrated, or like they don't know what to do to help. Sometimes parents feel so ready to work on their relationship with their teen, and the teen is resistant and maybe even shuts down or refuses family or individual therapy. Parent support therapy can bridge this gap because the teen doesn't have to be present for sessions at all. In our first session, I will gather a full background from you and help assess what problems are impacting your relationship with your teen. From there, I will teach you practical strategies you can apply immediately that can have a positive impact on your relationship with your teen.
For parents of a child/teen with OCD or anxiety disorder: Parent involvement is a key component of effective treatment of OCD and anxiety disorders in kids and teens. Sometimes a child or teen's individual therapist does not have the bandwidth to provide all the support the parent may need. Parent Support Sessions help parents understand the diagnosis and how it impacts the family as a whole, and learn how to reduce unhelpful accomodations and break free of the OCD or Anxiety cycle.
For parents of a child with a mental health diagnosis: Learning how to best support your child/teen with a mental health diagnosis can feel difficult, scary, frustrating and complicated. Parent Support Sessions can be a space where parents can safely express their feelings, and learn practical information about what to expect from their child's diagnosis, as well as how to support them effectively as they progress in their own therapy/treatment.
For parents of young adults: Parents of young adults face unique challenges in navigating the shift in the parent-child relationship once the child is an adult themself and faced with more independence. Some young adults struggle to integrate into college or the next step in their lives, and their parents may feel lost or confused as to how to help them. I assist parents of young adults in learning skills to improve or strengthen their communication with their young adult, and implement strategies to assist them in moving towards independence in their lives.
I am LGBTQ+ affirming for clients of all ages.
Parenting Support Therapy Rates:
53 minute session: $218
Family Therapy
I am a systemically trained family therapist and I work with families with a wide variety of concerns, including:
family communication problems (arguments, silent treatment, etc)
unhelpful family dynamics
stress related to life/family transitions
navigating a family member's OCD/anxiety/other mental health diagnosis
I utilize systemic family therapy modalities including Narrative Therapy, Bowenian Family Therapy, Structural Family Therapy, and Attachment-Based Family Therapy (AFBT).
I am LGBTQ+ affirming for clients of all ages.
I am specialized in working with families of children, adolescents and young adults. Drawing from my previous experience of developing family programming and working as the family therapist in an adolescent residential treatment program, I help families of adolescents with a wide variety of concerns specific to the teenage years and understanding overlapping mental health concerns. I use this experience to also assist families of teens who are transitioning back into their home and or school settings after attending a higher level of care such as residential treatment, partial hospitalization (PHP) or intensive outpatient treatment (IOP). I incorporate attachment-based family therapy (ABFT) into my work with teens and their families.
A case is considered family therapy when 2 or more clients will be present for all or most of the sessions. Based on each family's specific situation, we may structure family and/or parenting sessions differently. During our consultation call, we will decide if it makes sense for your teen/tween to regularly be a part of the family sessions, or if it would be more beneficial to focus on parent-only work.
While I am specialized in working with families of children and teens, I have experience and enjoy working with families of all ages. I also am able to integrate family sessions into individual treatment when it seems helpful or relevant.
Family Therapy Rates:
53 minute session: $218*
*Extended session times (75 min, 90 min, etc) may be needed in family therapy based on several factors, such as how many people are participating in the session. All extended times are pro-rated off this 53 minute fee.
